Water Saving Tips for a Healthy Environment and Home
1. Leak Detection is the Key
Call NWP and ask for the Plumbing Doctor, a 36-Point Preventative Check-Up performed by a licensed and bonded plumbing technician that inspects your pipes, toilets, faucets, and water heater for leaks and other signs of wear. Or, conduct a do-it-yourself leak test using your house meter as a leak detector by reading the meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read the same, there is a leak!
2. Check for Toilet Leaks
Put a drop or two of food coloring in your toilet tank. If, without flushing the toilet, the color begins to appear in the bowl within 30 minutes, you have a leak that should be repaired immediately. NWP specializes in repairs and installations and our licensed and bonded techinicans are trained to repair your existing toilets and install new eco-friendly water saving toilets in your home today.
3. Insulate Your Water Pipes
Insulated water pipes with pre-slit foam pipe insulation will help you get hot water faster plus avoid wasting water while it heats up. Ask a NWP Customer Service Representative about insulating your pipes today to save water usage and to prevent pipe-freezing catastrophes!
4. Simple Everyday Water Conservation Tips:
Take Shorter Showers - a four minute shower saves 20 to 40 gallons of water!
Rinse Your Razor in the Sink - Fill the sink basin with water and rinse your razor instead of using running water!
Turn Off Water While Brushing your Teeth and use a glass of water for rinsing!
Operate Dishwasher and Washing Machines only with full loads!
